Cancellation of zeros between L-functions

Heilbronn Number Theory Seminar

15th November 2017, 4:00 pm – 5:00 pm
Howard House, 4th Floor Seminar Room

The zeros of L-functions are the subject of various well-known conjectures. In this talk, we will not prove any of them. Building on work of Booker, we will study degree 2 quotients of L-functions. We will explain why such quotients have infinitely many poles, using a new converse theorem based on a simple geometric idea. (This is joint work with Michalis Neururer).
