Rank bounds for intersections of locally quasiconvex subgroups

Let H_1, H_2 be locally-quasiconvex subgroups of a hyperbolic group. We prove that rank(H_1\cap H_2) can be bounded in terms of rank(H_1) and rank(H_2). We will define all the terms in this statement along with providing some context (history, related results, etc.). In particular, the talk should be accessible all graduate students. The theorem is joint work with Nir Lazarovich.
