It turns out that graph theorists and geometers have often proved (independently) similar results in the past.
I will give some examples and focus on the asymptotic dimension of planes (joint with K. Fujiwara) and graphs
of polynomial growth.
Motivated by this, jointly with A. Georgakopoulos we formulated some conjectures that would generalize
classical graph theoretic results in the coarse setting. I will give a survey of recent developments and open problems.
