The marked length spectrum rigidity conjecture (which is still open) predicts that the isometry class of a closed, negatively curved Riemannian manifold is determined by it's marked length spectrum: the lengths of the closed geodesics ordered in a natural way. In this talk we'll discuss how to use ideas from geometric group theory and dynamical systems to study problems related to marked length spectrum rigidity.
