Exploring Chaos and Operator Dynamics in Solvable Quantum Circuits
QFT/Holography Seminar
2nd December 2024, 2:00 pm – 3:00 pm
Fry Building, 4th Floor Seminar Room
In this talk, I will explore key aspects of chaos and operator spreading in the context of solvable dual-unitary quantum circuits. These circuits possess the unique property of unitary evolution in both space and time, enabling exact solutions even for chaotic models without the need for averaging. I will discuss spectral properties of chaos captured by spectral form factor and dynamical aspects probed by local operator entanglement. I will contrast the latter with scrambling captured by the out-of-time-order correlators (OTOCs) and show that scrambling is necessary but not sufficient for chaos.
