In 1980 Pintz showed how to get a near square root improvement in the (unconditional) error term in the Prime Number Theorem. I will describe one way that this result can be made explicit and then apply it to an old problem due to Ramanujan. This is joint work with Tim Trudgian at UNSW, Canberra.
