Morita equivalence of blocks of finite groups

Morita equivalence of module categories captures many important invariants in representation theory, in particular the structure of modules. Donovan's conjecture predicts that there should only be finitely many Morita equivalence classes amongst blocks of finite groups once we fix a natural invariant. I will survey progress on the conjecture, as well as related classification results.
