Dynamics of splittings of free-by-cyclic groups

I will discuss some dynamical aspects of the BNS-invariant for certain classes of free-by-cyclic groups, following an analogy with fibered 3-manifolds. In the talk, I will explain what the BNS invariant of a free-by-cyclic group G is, how it organizes the monodromy endomorphisms for different splittings of G as ascending HNN extensions, and how the dynamics of these endomorphisms are related to each other. This is joint work with Spencer Dowdall and Ilya Kapovich.
