On limit groups over RAAGs
Algebra and Geometry Seminar
3rd October 2018, 2:30 pm – 3:30 pm
Howard House, 4th Floor Seminar Room
The class of limit groups played an important role in the
solution of the Tarski problems by Sela and Kharlampovich-Miasnikov.
They admit very rich and diverse characterizations and this versatile
nature makes them a fine
example of the connection between Group Theory, Algebra, Geometry and
Model Theory. In the first part of the talk, I will introduce the class
of limit groups and review the classic results for free groups. In the
second part, I will discuss the class of limit groups over right-angled
Artin groups: its structure and a universe for them. This is based on
joint work with I. Kazachkov and work in progress with A. Duncan and I.
Kazachkov.
