Kevin Houston will take us on a tour of how to teach students to write maths properly, with all its beautiful logic and coherence in argument, and how to make them realise that this is not just a nuisance but a useful skill for the world out there.

There will be light refreshments after the talk.





Biography:

Kevin Houston is at the School of Mathematics, University of Leeds. He is a member of the LMS Education Committee, and an associate editor for The Journal of Singularities. Kevin's main teaching interest is encouraging (read forcing) students to think, hence the title of his best-selling book, How To Think Like a Mathematician.
