Recent progress on emirps and palindromic primes

For some fixed base b>1, we consider:
1. Emirps --- Primes which are also primes when their digits are reversed.
2. Palindromic primes --- Primes which are also palindromes.
In every base, it has long been conjectured that there are infinitely many emirps and palindromic primes. In this talk, we explore how new analytic techniques from the last decade are making a dent in such classical conjectures, leading to an flurry of recent papers. In particular, I'll describe some recent work of Shashi Chourasiya and myself, as well as upcoming work from various authors coming soon to an arXiv near you.
