Holography and Reflected Entropy: Revisiting the Entanglement Membrane

QFT/Holography Seminar

17th March 2025, 2:00 pm – 3:00 pm
Fry Building, 4th Floor Seminar Room

In this talk, I will present recent results on the dynamics of reflected entropy in two-dimensional conformal field theories using the entanglement membrane framework—a geometric approach for capturing entanglement dynamics in quantum systems. While higher-dimensional systems feature a non-degenerate membrane tension function, 2d CFTs exhibit a degenerate one, complicating the membrane description. I will show using holography that accurately reproducing the reflected entropy in 2d CFTs requires introducing an additional degree of freedom into the membrane framework. I will also comment on the implications for information velocity and membrane dynamics of reflected entropy in higher dimensions.
