Coarse-geometric obstructions to cubulation

Geometry and Topology Seminar

8th October 2024, 2:00 pm – 3:00 pm
Fry Building, 2.04

Getting a group G to act geometrically on a CAT(0) cube complex gives access to some very nice combinatorial machinery for studying G, but there are many groups that one would expect to not have any such actions. That said, there are surprisingly few methods available for proving that G has no such actions. In this talk I will describe some simple geometric obstructions to cubulation. Based on joint work with Zach Munro.
