Count of simple closed geodesics on Riemann surfaces

Geometry and Topology Seminar

4th May 2021, 2:00 pm – 3:00 pm
Zoom seminar, if interested, please email one of the organisers to gain access to the Zoom link

I will recall results of Maryam Mirzakhani on asymptotic count of
simple closed geodesic multicurves on a Riemann surface. Then I
will tell about a development of these results in the case when the
genus of the surface is large. This development is obtained jointly
with V. Delecroix, E. Goujard and P. Zograf, using recent uniform
bounds for the Witten-Kontsevich correlators due to A. Aggarwal.
The talk would be informal, not always rigorous, and majority of
the proofs would be omitted. As a compensation I will do my best to
make it accessible. This talk might serve as a preparation for the
talk of Vincent Delecroix, speaking a week after me on a similar
subject.
