Quantum Error Correction
Mathematical Physics Seminar
28th April 2023, 1:45 pm – 3:30 pm
Fry Building, 2.04
It is widely accepted that scalable quantum computing requires a process that mitigates the accumulation of errors, called quantum error correction (QEC).
In this talk I will give an overview of QEC and explain the challenges that need to be overcome to realize fault-tolerant quantum computing. I will cover the main ideas and, in particular, I will highlight the role played by geometry and topology. Finally, I will touch on some recent developments in the field.
