Integrable spin chains and the Clifford group
Mathematical Physics Seminar
22nd April 2022, 1:45 pm – 3:30 pm
Fry Building, 2.04
I will explain how to use the Clifford group to construct new families of spin chain Hamiltonians that are local, integrable and translationally invariant. Integrable models are important tools in our understanding of quantum many body systems. I will give an overview of this topic as well as an introduction to the Clifford group, a group of unitary transformations arising in quantum information theory. I will discuss connections to the theory of quantum cellular automata, as well as explaining how our construction interacts with the underlying Bethe Ansatz integrability in certain cases. Based on work with Noah Linden arxiv:2107.02184.
