Faithful covers of Khovanov arc algebras

Algebra Seminar

21st April 2026, 4:00 pm – 5:00 pm
Fry Building, 2.04

In the first part of this talk, I will review the theory of faithful covers introduced by R. Rouquier, using the group algebra of the symmetric group and the Schur algebra as a motivating example. In the second part, I will introduce the arc algebras which were originally defined by M. Khovanov to study knot homology and have since been found to have close connections to many parts of representation theory and geometry such as the representations of Lie (super) algebras, Hecke categories and perverse sheaves on Grassmannians. I will then discuss when these algebras admit faithful covers.
This is joint work with C. Bowman, A. Dell’Arciprete, A. Hazi, R. Muth and C. Stroppel.
