Introduction to analysis on fractals
Analysis and Geometry Seminar
22nd April 2021, 9:00 am – 10:00 am
Online, Zoom (contact organisers for details)
The object of this talk is to introduce the basic ideas of analysis on fractals, i.e. how one can construct a “Laplacian”, what the basic properties of it, and how they are different from “ordinary” analysis on the Euclidean spaces and differential manifolds. I will mainly talk about analysis on the Sierpinski gasket, which is the very first non-trivial example of analysis on fractals. The results are about 30 years old but one can find all the fundamental questions in this example. This is very introductory talk.
