It is a fundamental problem in mathematical physics to derive macroscopic transport equations from microscopic models. The Lorentz gas, both classical and quantum, is one microscopic model where substantial progress has been made. In this talk I will provide a gentle introduction to the quantum Lorentz gas and discuss some key results. This is joint work with Jens Marklof.
