Matrix product state skeletons in Onsager-integrable quantum chains

Mathematical Physics Seminar

9th October 2026, 11:00 am – 12:00 pm
Fry Building, 2.04

In this talk, I will discuss how skeletons of matrix-product-state-solvable models underlie the phase diagrams of gapped Onsager-integrable chiral clock models. I will demonstrate how to use the Onsager algebra to construct these MPS skeletons, and discuss how the MPS structure provides a conceptually simple method for computing correlation functions. Moreover, I will show how the skeleton is dense, meaning that a point along the skeleton approximates an arbitrary gapped Hamiltonian in the phase diagram. This provides us with a route to calculating correlation functions, such as string-order parameters, at arbitrary points in the phase diagram.
