What do buses in a town in Mexico, the New York subway system and DNA replication have in common?

Mathematics Postgraduate Seminar

15th November 2019, 4:30 pm – 5:30 pm
Fry Building, 2.04

We'll look at how the statistical properties of eigenvalues of certain random matrices has been used to model various physical structures where some sort of repulsion is occurring. We'll then understand how DNA replication occurs on an individual chromosome and explore the potential applications of random matrices to model this system.
