Around Brauer's height zero conjecture
Algebra Seminar
9th June 2021, 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm
Online, Zoom
More than 60 years ago Richard Brauer formulated a conjecture on the degrees of irreducible characters of finite groups. This conjecture is still open in general, but various partial results have been obtained. I will give an introduction to the problem, highlight some of the recent results and then try to explain strategies and methods employed in solving these as well as other related questions in representation theory of finite groups. The talk will be given on a blackboard and is intended to be accessible by a general audience in algebra.
