Why Mathematical Physicists Should be Interested in the Zeros of the Riemann Zeta Function

Mathematical Physics Seminar

15th November 2024, 2:00 pm – 3:00 pm
Fry Building, 2.04

What connects a function deeply interwoven with ancient questions about prime numbers to modern physics? Mainly using proof-by-picture, this talk will show that to understand prime numbers you need to understand zeros of the Riemann zeta function, and those zeros have tantalising connections with quantised chaotic systems.
