Modules over Path Algebras

Mathematics Postgraduate Seminar

4th October 2019, 4:30 pm – 5:30 pm
Fry Building, 2.04

A module over a ring occurs naturally as a generalisation of a vector space over a field. They are used to study the properties of groups and rings in a more concrete setting with applications to physics, number theory and algebraic geometry.

In this talk I will explain examples of modules over various rings. In particular, I will focus on modules over a class of rings called path algebras which are defined combinatorially using graphs.
