Agreeing to Disagree
Mathematics Postgraduate Seminar
27th March 2020, 4:30 pm – 5:30 pm
Fry Building, 2.04
I will discuss a theorem from game theory, the so-called "agreement theorem." If two individuals have the same priors and their posterior probabilities are common knowledge then the posterior probabilities must be equal -- they cannot "agree to disagree." I will explain what these words mean and how to prove this result, and if there's time, discuss some of its implications.
