A Fleeting Foray into Fractal Geometry, at Four Thirty on the Final Friday of February

Hausdorff dimension is used to assign a notion of size to sets that are too small to be compared by our usual tools, for instance sets of Lebesgue measure zero. We will examine this definition with examples, and outline some of the difficulties that arise when computing dimensions of complicated sets.
