Promotions in the Statistics Institute

The Institute for Statistical Science is very pleased that the outstanding work of three of its staff has been recognised by this year’s University of Bristol promotions process.

Professor Patrick Rubin-Delanchy has been promoted to the role of Professor of Mathematics, having joined the University of Bristol as lecturer in July 2017, from the University of Oxford where he held a fellowship in Data Science. His research is in mathematical statistics, particularly network theory, clustering and manifold estimation, with applications in machine-learning, biology, and cyber-security.Dr Daniel Lawson joined the school in 2018 from a Sir Henry Dale Wellcome Trust Research Fellowship with the School of Medicine at the University of Bristol. He has been promoted to Associate Professor in Data Science, with his work focussing primarily on methods to understand genetics and its role in history, culture and epidemiology.Dr Haeran Cho has been promoted to the role of Associate Professor in Statistical Science. Their work particularly focuses on the areas of high-dimensional statistics, time series analysis and data segmentation a.k.a. multiple change point detection.
