Dr Patrick Rubin-Delancy has had a paper, ‘A statistical interpretation of spectral embedding: The generalised random dot product graph’, published in the Journal of the Royal Statistical Society: Series B.
The paper provides mathematical guarantees about spectral embedding, a popular tool for exploring and analysing real-world networks. In particular, it makes sense of the case where the network has “heterophilic” community structure: network connections tend to occur between rather than within communities.
The paper is available to view online.
Congratulations to Patrick on this achievement.
